ChocolART Festival in Tübingen
Last Sunday night I was telling Matt what a busy week I had coming up. “What do you have? How can I help?” he asked because he is always wanting to make my life easier. I started laughing because while yes, my week was busy, it was also all really fun things. Lunch with a new friend, book club, and the biggest chocolate festival in Germany. Very much (not) stressful things 😆.
Caga Tío
As we walked through the empty streets of Girona with Ona, our private city guide, she casually pointed out a log in a window, “oh that’s Caga Tío; he is what we do for Christmas.”
Matt and I looked and saw a plain log with a happy little face painted on it, propped up by two stick arms in the front and wearing the traditional Catalan red hat with a black brim. “Wait, what is he?” we asked, utterly clueless.
Ravenna Gorge Christmas Market
A few months ago a friend sent me a link with all the Christmas markets throughout Germany with personal reviews and notes. I poured over it all, adding links and dates to my calendar for the most loved markets. The Ravenna Gorge Market was one at the top of the list.
Day Out: Öhringen
Little towns have a lot of history and I wanted to spend a day exploring something local. In the state Baden-Württemberg in Germany where I live, there is a region called Hohenlohe that is knowns as “Swabian Tuscany” for it’s rolling hills and natural beauty. I’m a fan. It’s truly so beautiful everywhere you look and full of history going way, way back.
